My son said much of who he is today was because of Wayman’s care and compassion for him

I remember meeting Wayman and Sandy when I started going to Bible Temple in about 1993. Wayman— quite the personality! He was really wonderful with my kids and Sandy his darling better half! I got to know Wayman much better when one of my boys was recovering from a serious injury. He had been hit by a car and besides the injuries, he became very depressed. I remember telling Wayman and Wayman said I’ve got you covered. He asked me if he could be take my son out of school from time to time and take him to lunch and just be a friend to him. For months and months women will take him to lunch or dinner to encourage him. My son said much of who he is today was because of Wayman’s care and compassion for him. It was constant and unconditional. He knew Wayman had his back. When my boys were in eighth grade, I was asked by Wayman if I could help with the annual trip for eighth graders up to wild waves in Federal Way. I was delighted to help. When I was at my post watching kids, Wayman came and sat down next to me. He said I’m gonna ask you a question and just Wayman‘s fashion he asked, “tell me how you got saved?” So I started telling him the story: I was a kid and I went to go watch the Rose Festival Parade— Wayman stood up and stopped yelled stop! Now I had told my story many times to many people but never before did I get such a reaction! He asked me was it in 1972? I shook my head yes. And he said I took the youth group to the Rose Festival Parade that day and we were passing out tracts… now for the younger folks here, on that track that piece of paper was the story of salvation. The man that talked with me, asked me if I would read it and I did that night and I asked the Lord to my heart. I actually wrote down the prayer and I still have it in my Bible. It was amazing to me to find out this man who is now youth group pastor for my kids was the one that had handed me information that led to my salvation. I really think it’s important to remember those who have influenced us in our lives. Three years ago was when I celebrated 50 years as a believer . I sent Wayman the following note as well as 49 other people who really have influenced my walk for the Lord . There were others who had already gone onto Gloryland, but I think it’s important to remember people while they’re alive . I also sent a note to Wayman a couple months ago. I’m so glad for how he reached out to me a little girl at a parade … here’s the note — Wayman—-I feel the Lord has prompted me to thank people who really made a difference in my life. It will be 50 years ago this summer when I went to a Rose Festival Parade .You came up to me, handed me a piece of paper and encouraged me to read it. I went home, read it and made a commitment to the Lord. Thank you! You changed my family legacy for eternity! Starting from that day, the Lord began to transform me. I grew up and even though I have gone through some tough times, the Lord has always been in my life. I taught my kids and now they are teaching my grandkids about the Lord. Thank you! Blessings to you and your family!
